That’s right, we hosted yet another gathering last night. Everyone left full and happy, but my kitchen looks like it took a pretty heavy beating. The price I pay, I guess!
Eric and I spent most of the day cleaning our house. We had really let our chores go over the week, and we had some serious catching up to do. I was still folding the last load of laundry when our chef for the night arrive.
We were lucky to have our good friend, Anne, offer to do the cooking. She can’t eat much herself due to some pretty hefty dietary restrictions, but her Italian genes work just fine when it comes to cooking. Delicious!
Others brought sides to share, and I made pumpkin and leaf sugar cookies for dessert. I love sugar cookies! But they are a little time intensive, what with the rolling and the cutting, so I rarely make them. I use the basic Betty Crocker recipe, but always add the Q Family Secret Ingredient–NUTMEG. To kick them up even one more notch, I had a whole nutmeg, so it was freshly grated for these cookies. Yum, yum! I prefer simple glaze (milk and powdered sugar) to thick frosting. For the first time in a while, I actually think they turned out deliciously. Hooray!
