Eric and I have been working hard to watch less television over the last few weeks. It’s tough work, though! Our culture is so very hustle-and-bustle, both of us are ready to crash when we get home.
Our progress has been decent, I think. On evenings we’re both home all night, we generally just try to keep the television off until 7:00 or 8:00. We still have a few hours to zone out before bed, but we also gain an hour or two of time back. We talk more during dinner, and we find more productive things to do with our free time.
Of course, sometimes we fail miserably. We forget and just keep it on, or we don’t have anything to say to each other while we eat, or we just really want to watch some movie or TV show. Last night was one of those nights… It was dark, cold, and windy, and neither of wanting nothing more in our lives than sweatpants, ice cream, and crashing on the couch for a few hours. But I’m glad we’re making this effort together, as every time we try it is better. It definitely makes our house feel more like a home.
