Eric and I were invited to a Halloween party we couldn’t turn down: Pauloween!
The concept: throw a Halloween party where everyone dresses as one person, who has no idea what’s going on until they get there. In this case, we dressed as our 60-year-old-trapped-in-a-30ish-year-old-body friend Paul (hence, Pauloween. Get it?)
The back story: Last year, two people, without consulting one another, dressed as Paul at a traditional Halloween costume party. It seemed only appropriate to go with it again this year.
The party was potluck, so in addition to preparing our costumes, we also made a spinach and artichoke dip from our Cooking Light cookbook. It turned out pretty well, and looked as good as it tasted (for once!) You can see our costumes in the previous post.
We got to the party smelling Chris and Laura’s (our hosts) corn chowder cooking on
the stove. I’m not typically a chowder fan, but this one smelled and looked beautiful!
The party turned out wonderfully. There was tons of awesome food and, more importantly, the surprise went off without a hitch! Even Paul’s wife and child were in on it, and they managed to surprise him, too! The best part of all was that Stephanie, Paul’s wife, was able to get him into a ridiculous baby costume. He stood out like a sore thumb! Picture below–enjoy!
