Happy November and an Update on Heat

Happy November!  The standard Wisconsin chill is in the air, and it is officially the cold season.  Brrrrr…

I gave in to turning on the heat in our house last week, on October 27.  I’m disappointed we couldn’t make it to November, but it was well worth it.  The night of the 27th temps got below 30 degrees Fahrenheit.  Yikes!

We enjoyed gads of trick or treaters on Sunday afternoon (we ran out of candy in just over an hour!) but the weather was nice enough to sit outside the whole time, which was very pleasant.  And the apple sauce turned out deliciously!  Yesterday and today I’m busy, busy, busy at work, especially enjoying two important Holy Days in my tradition–All Saints Day (November 1) and All Souls Day (November 2).  I hope to get back to having a real home life sometime later this week.

Could you post the applesauce recipe, please? Inquiring minds want to know!

Absolutely! This is the recipe I used: 16 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and cut into quarters 1 cup water 1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg Mix all the above ingredients in a large slow cooker and heat on high for 3 hours, stirring two or three times. Then, mash all the ingredients together. It makes enough to eat some now and freeze some for later!
