Eric and I are counting down the (very few) days until we leave to visit his family in Texas. And until Christmas, of course. We’re really getting our hustle on this weekend as we attempt to put the house back in order, do laundry and pack our bags, and still get to all these darn holiday social engagements.
Lucky for us, we’ve had very few hosting responsibilities in the last month. We’re happy to put together an appetizer or grab a bottle of wine on our way out the door, especially if it means we don’t have to prepare our home for company or clean up afterward! We were a little burnt out on dinner parties and social gatherings at our place, but I think by January we’ll be back in action.
In the meantime, we’re trying our darndest to be fun, funny, charming and easy guests. In between gatherings and such, we’re checking off things on the to-do list and counting down the hours until we hit the road. After a very challenging semester, Eric is ready and willing to help and between the two of us we’re making sure it all gets done. It’s nice to have him back!
In the midst of it all, though, I am certainly facing the stresses of extra to-do list items, extra stuff to squeeze into our budget, extra social challenges that always come up with family friends at this time of year. Why not admit it? Sometimes by mid-December, we’re all ready for life to get back to normal again. My goal for the weekend is to enjoy it all, relax, treat myself, and keep a smile on my face. By January, I know I’ll be looking forward to December again.
