work hard, play hard

We have enjoyed some really, really lovely weather here in southeastern Wisconsin the last few days. After a lousy March and a crummy beginning of April, we have been experiencing spring and, yes, even a taste of summer. Jane has been playing at the park and outside in the yard, and she keeps bringing me her shoes and her sunhat. “Come on, Mom, time to go!”

happy spring!

happy spring!

We’re looking forward to summer, too. Our house and yard are desperate for some home improvements and touch ups. Some of it is annual, some of it got put off with baby craziness, but most of it just happens to all need to be done at once. Eric and I have spent lots of time the last few days talking about the things that should be done. One of the most frustrating things to me is always having to prioritize the necessary (fixing the chimney) over the fun (updating the nursery), but I know that if we are productive and careful in May and June we’ll be able to have a little more fun in July and August.

This weekend we (and by we I mean Eric) managed to get the hedges trimmed, at least–something that’s been on my to do list for a while. The chimney guy showed up today, which was earlier than we expected. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to completely fix our issue today, but he was able to get us closer to solving the problem. One step at a time. Plus, Eric made an appointment for a car check up (overdue) and I made an appointment for a Dallas the Dog check up (way overdue). And May doesn’t even start until Wednesday! Take that, to do list!
