I love this day.
We’re post-Labor Day, and as I drove to work this morning, the kiddos were having their pictures taken at bus stops, there was a little more energy at the office, the air is a little cooler, even the pumpkin lattes are out.
We had a fantastic last summer weekend at the lake, but I’m ready for autumn. I’m ready for Fridays at home with Jane, for harvest season at the farmers markets, and even for the late evenings at work that the academic year brings for me. I’ve been waiting for summer’s unofficial end and a lull in our travel schedule to switch up a few things for Jane (more on that in the next few weeks), think about maintenance/repair/redecorating/deep cleaning in our house, and planning for some fall trips. We’re desperately ready for these things in our house.
There’s also the buzz of change the Tuesday after Labor Day, and I think there’s that feeling in our house, too. There are a lot of possibilities for us over the course of the next year. I’m grateful that this new academic year has begun, in full, so that we can get on with experiencing them.
