We spent our Christmas with family in Texas, and it was joyous for sure! Food and drink and lots and lots and lots of celebrating. Exhausting, but wonderful.
This is my third Christmas in Texas. It’s always a little weird–the weather is warm and my holiday traditions are mostly abandoned for another family’s, but it’s actually really good. It brings me out of myself a little and reminds me of the real reason for it all. And besides, I love the V Family and a new set of adventures is always good for us! Our trip there and back was uneventful, Jane had a wonderful second birthday and third Christmas (!), and we loved having over five full days with family–a rare treat!
Flying with my now-two-year-old is an adventure. Snacks, stickers, and life-saving episodes of Sesame Street loaded on the iPad helped immensely. I’m grateful for the Milwaukee airport, which is small enough to make security pretty easy but big enough to have plenty of food and restroom options. DFW is a little too big for easy toddler travel, but it went fine anyway. No worse than a car trip, I’d say!
And now that we’re back in Wisconsin, we’re back to the grind. Laundry, shoveling, groceries, and work. Eric’s a little under the weather, but we’ve got a pretty easy week and a half in front of us. We’ll count all our blessings and then some.
All the best to you and yours!
