We got hammered with a big ol’ snowfall yesterday, which seemed like the cherry on top of two weeks of illness and terrible weather. But I keep being reminded (by my coworkers, my family, even the scripture reading from yesterday) to choose joy, happiness and grace, even when it’s not natural or easy.
We have so much to be thankful for this winter, and not just a roof over our heads or food to eat. We have visited Eric’s family in Dallas and just had a wonderful visit from my parents. We’ve celebrated a second birthday and all the milestones that come with it. We have discovered new treasures and loves. We have been creative and productive. Yesterday, Eric turned in a finished dissertation, to be defended in March. If that’s not a successful winter, I don’t know what is.
I’m working on keeping a positive attitude this week, even though I’d much rather be whining. We actually have a really low-key week and a relatively low-key weekend, too. The weather has improved at least a little, and I imagine we’ll be able to manage at least a few adventures over the next few days!
