the benefit of saying “no”

On the one weekend we had decided to try to keep things low key and uncommitted while we prepare for Holy Week, we have gotten the most invitations–and fun ones! But I’m so glad I’ve been saying no, even to the stuff I’d truly love to do. I have gotten a ton done already today, and it freed Jane and I up for a quick trip to the zoo this morning!

It’s been a long time since Jane and I did something like that on our own, without friends or a schedule, and it was great fun. She also hasn’t been to the zoo since December, and she’s changed so much since then–asking to see and do very specific things, hopping in and out of the umbrella stroller at will, wanting to know when we’ll go again as we were leaving.

The rest of the day and tomorrow morning are totally open, and they’ll stay that way, so I’m looking forward to a little more family time and rest. Happy Weekend!
