The last few weeks have been nothing short of ridiculous. Visits from Sister K, Mama and Papa K, my cousin and his family, and a trip to Virginia, plus working, packing, and trying to have a social life in the interim.

This past weekend was filled with joy and family time, though, as my cousin Dave, his wife Molly, and their three kids (O-5, C-3, and E-1) came to Milwaukee for a few days. It was very crazy but very fun to see those adorable children, catch up with Dave and Molly, and let Jane interact with her second cousins a bit. Since she still doesn’t have any first cousins, these kiddos are probably the closest she’s got to family her own age.

I was most worried about sleep, but that seemed to go okay. Their littlest, E, has a hard time with sleep no matter where she is, but the older boys and Jane did great. I didn’t anticipate how tricky it would be to cook for that big a crowd, though! Luckily, their kids (unlike mine) are great eaters and were happy with just about anything I put in front of them.

We had a blast showing them a few of our favorite Milwaukee spots. A tour of our favorite parks (Doctors, Cahill, Lake) was a fun and free way to burn some preschool energy, and a trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo was great for all of us. The adults indulged in Kopps one night, too.

And we tried a few new things–Barthel’s Farm for strawberry picking (adorable!) and Horny Goat Hideaway for an adult double date night while our favorite babysitters watched the little ones.

Showing them some of my favorite parks about the city reminded me how much I’ll miss it, as well as how much I’ll miss being closer to my family. I’m so glad it worked to spend this time with them before we’re on to the next adventure!
