a fourth of july

We had gorgeous weather for the lake over the holiday weekend.

We picked (more) strawberries, and Jane learned that no one was going to yell at her for stuffing her face. Needless to say, she didn’t have much for lunch that day.

We ate and ate and ate–lots of meat from the grill, watermelon and cherries and strawberries, and a beautiful refrigerator cake. Plus, there was major indulgence at the local bar and grill that we won’t talk about.

We had fires on the patio every night, including s’mores! The best dessert of all time ever!

We spent lots of time by the water. I think Jane brought half the beach home in her swimsuit.

We slept in, took naps, walked and ran all over, picked up rocks and sticks and pine cones, and slept some more.

I missed a big family reunion, an opportunity for major cleaning and packing, and some quiet time at home, but for a weekend like that? Happy birthday, America.
