friday night when you’re old

This was a truly wonderful Friday evening.

I picked up both girls from daycare, which means Jane first, then together we get Sidney. We played on the porch  with Sid’s sitter and her 10-year-old sister, swinging on the porch  swing, digging through the bucket of seashells, enjoying the sunshine.

Eric had just gotten home when we pulled in the driveway at 4:45. (Yes, academic schedules are wonderful.) We threw together vegetarian chili and gobbled it up so we would have time for an evening adventure.

After chili, we headed to the park. Eric got 2 miles in while I walked a little with the girls, and we still had time to swing and slide for a few minutes. Sidney has dropped to one nap, so she needs a bit earlier bedtime lately. We had to get home for that.

Which was fine, since it gave me the chance to listen to Eric read Shel Silverstein to Jane while she ate a bedtime snack. They’re still at it now, only upstairs in her bed.

The rest of tonight? Probably an episode of House of Cards and a beer or two. And the rest of the weekend will look much the same.

These are our adventures right now.
